Retro Sedu: Creating Retro Looks with the Sedu Flat Iron
What do Jackie Kennedy, “That Girl,” and the Mod Squad have in common? All of their most popular retro hairdos are back in style and all of them can be beautifully achieved with the Sedu flat iron. Here’s how:
Jackie Kennedy
The fashionable Jackie Kennedy has forever captured the hearts of Americans and even those of people who have no national connection with her. Her soft, feminine style was and still is a favorite among those wishing to be the epitome of class and grace.

To capture the style of Jackie Kennedy for yourself, all you need is shoulder-length hair, a Sedu flat iron and a little spray. First, part your dry or slightly damp hair off to the side in a soft side part. Next, simply straighten your hair using 1/2” sections directed away from your scalp and toward your face. In the back of your hair, be sure to give the ends a slight tipped-up look. Give height to your bangs with a little tease in the top and crown. Make sure everything is smoothed out over the tease and spray to set.
That Girl
Ever since the 1960s sitcom “That Girl” hit the big screen, women have been emulating her retro style. Even on TV, we have seen this style emulated over and over again. Just think about the 1980’s sitcom “Married with Children.” The hairstyle worn by Peg Bundy is an exact replica of that made famous by Ann Marie.
To get this look, you need a teasing comb, Sedu flat iron and heavy-duty hairspray. First, make a tight tease cushion over the top of the head and the sides and back of the head down until you are even with the occipital bone. Then, straighten the nape and lower sides of the hair with the flat iron leaving a dramatic upturn on the ends. Next, pull out and smooth the top layers of the tease cushion out with the Sedu flat iron while making sure that you do a dramatic upturn here as well (be sure to keep the tease cushion in tact. All you want to pull out are the top layers). With a pick or the ends of the teasing comb, make sure that the style looks smooth and completely covers all evidence of tease. Spray to finish.
The Mod Squad
This is another TV show that made hairstyle waves in the 1960s. Far from being set styles, though, the “Mod Squad” style was a little freer flowing. You can get this style easily with a long-layered cut with bangs that are slightly longer than eyebrow length. Simply, straighten with the Sedu while directing the sides toward the face. Finish off with a very light spray or no spray at all.
So, if you want to go retro, maybe you should pick up the very modern Sedu flat iron to help you in your task.
