Sedu Flat Iron: Choosing the Right Size

While the Sedu flat iron does not have as many size options as other popular brand-name flat irons, that does not mean that it is any less important to choose the right sized iron to straighten your hair when you purchase a Sedu ceramic/tourmaline iron. The right size iron will help you achieve the best results for your length of hair in the shortest time frame possible.

The Sedu flat iron comes in two sizes: the 1” plated iron and the 1 1/2” plated iron. These sizes relate to the width of the heating plates on the iron and can make a big difference in how long it takes to straighten your hair and how easy it can be to create certain styles.

A good rule of thumb to follow when choosing a Sedu flat iron is to purchase the larger iron if you have longer (10” or more), coarse hair and the smaller iron if you have shorter (4” to 10”) hair. If you have extremely short hair (3” or under), it may be a good idea to purchase a mini flat iron from another ceramic flat iron manufacture as the 1” iron will be bulky and could set you up for style disaster and/or hairline and scalp burns. Mini flat irons come with 1/2” plates and are perfect for short styles.

If in doubt or if more than one person is going to be using the Sedu iron, opt for the 1” iron as it is the most versatile iron. The 1” size is perfect for quickly straightening hair and is light and easy to maneuver. If you like to create flips, dips or under turns with your Sedu flat iron, this is the size for you.

The 1 1/2” size is great if you have extremely long, thick or coarse hair and you like to wear it hanging straight down your back. The larger plate size allows for speedy styling, but this iron is heavier and bulkier to handle.
